Toward a 3D Virtual Cell

December 2012

What happens when science and technology meet? How does the cooperation between scientists in a open dynamic community develop within the next five years? These were some of the questions that had to be answered by 120 scientists within a US conference at the UCDS campus. 120 scientists met on the UCSD campus on December 13-14, 2012 to explore what an open, vibrant, and collaborative community could look like over the next 5 years. 38 speakers talked about cutting edge research in biology where technology meets science and 120 participants worked together to find new partnerships.

Sophia Liang and Wyn Wilson from Graphic Footprints captured over 40 presentations over 2 days. Their visual displays were installed as an engaging freestanding installation in the lobby as a way for participants to reflect back on the content.
